Founded by experienced leaders, Jonathan Rodbell and Court Thomas, APG has earned an exemplary track record and renowned reputation.
Jonathan focuses on strategic initiatives with a specific emphasis on capital relationships. He is a member of APG’s Partner’s Committee.
Prior to forming APG, Jonathan spent four years as Vice President of Apex Supply Company, a wholesale distributor of plumbing supplies, heating and air conditioning, and other building materials. Atlanta-based Apex Supply, founded by the Rodbell family in 1949, was acquired by The Home Depot in 2000 and subsequently operated as a wholly-owned subsidiary.
Before moving back to Atlanta, Jonathan worked for Lazard Freres & Co. in New York as an Associate in the Real Estate Private Equity Group. He began his career at JMB Realty/Heitman Financial in Chicago as a member of the acquisitions team.
Jonathan earned a B.S. from The Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and is a graduate of The Westminster Schools, where he remains involved as an active parent. He is a member of the Rotary Club of Atlanta, American Israel Public Affairs Committee’s (AIPAC) New Leadership Network, executive committee of the Buckhead Coalition, Young Presidents Organization (YPO), and Urban Land Institute (ULI). He has served on the boards of Camp Sunshine and the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta. Jonathan is a native of Atlanta and currently lives in Buckhead with his wife, Heather, and their two sons.
Court focuses on strategic initiatives with an emphasis on new business opportunities, industry relationships and the firm’s activities in the Carolinas. He is a member of APG’s Partner’s Committee.
Prior to forming APG, he spent five years with Lowe Enterprises, Inc., acquiring office and industrial properties on behalf of pension fund clients. Prior to Lowe, he worked with GE Capital and The Brookdale Group. In total, Court has helped to execute more than $3 billion in commercial real estate transactions over the course of his career.
Court earned a B.S. in Business Administration from Georgetown University and is a graduate of The Westminster Schools in Atlanta. He currently serves on the Advisory Board for the Steers Center for Global Real Estate at Georgetown’s McDonough School of Business and as a member of the Children’s Hospital of Atlanta Annual Fund Committee. Professional affiliations include NAIOP, where he chairs the Entrepreneurial Investment and Development Forum, and the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors. Court is a native of Atlanta and currently lives in Buckhead with his wife, Kristin, and their three sons.
Shep oversees the firm’s day-to-day functions with a focus on investment activity and portfolio performance. During his time at APG, he has been involved in principal transactions totaling over $1 billion. Shep chairs APG’s Partner’s Committee.
Prior to joining APG in 2011, he spent four years in the commercial mortgage banking industry working in the Atlanta office of Grandbridge Real Estate Capital, a subsidiary of BB&T. While there, he was involved in over $350 million of closed debt transactions with various capital sources, including life insurance companies, CMBS lenders, and commercial banks.
Shep earned a B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. He is a member of NAIOP where he serves on the Board of the NAIOP GA Chapter and is a member of a National Forum. Additionally, he serves on the Board of Cancer Support Community – Atlanta. Shep is a native of Atlanta and currently lives in Buckhead with his wife, Elaine, and their three sons.
Austin oversees the firm’s leasing platform. During his time at APG, Austin and his team have completed over 850 transactions totaling over $390 million in new rental income. He is a member of APG’s Partner’s Committee.
Prior to joining APG in 2013, he spent eight years with Lavista Associates, where he represented institutional and local landlords and established a track record developing and executing successful real estate leasing plans. He employed his experience, market knowledge and solid business and community relationships to lease a variety of office assets, including suburban mid-rise buildings, low-rise business parks, and mixed-use developments. He has experience in all phases of the leasing process from financial analysis through lease negotiations.
Austin earned a BBA from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business and is a graduate of Woodward Academy in Atlanta. He is a multiyear member of the Atlanta Commercial Board of Realtors Million Dollar Club and has been recognized as a Costar “Power Broker”. He is a native of Atlanta and now lives in Brookwood Hills with his wife, Meredith, and their two children.
Jimmy is responsible for overseeing the firm’s property management and engineering platform. During his 12 years with APG, Jimmy has been instrumental in developing the firm’s programs and policies that allow our property management teams to successfully execute the strategic plan for each asset. He is a member of APG’s Partner’s Committee.
Prior to joining Atlanta Property Group in 2007, Jimmy was employed by JLL as Vice President/Group Manager. During his seven years at JLL, he managed several large-scale institutional investments in the Atlanta market, including new development projects. He was also responsible for leasing various projects and he served on the region’s new business development team.
Jimmy earned a BBA, Finance, and an MBA, Finance & Real Estate, from University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business. He is a native of Atlanta and lives in Milton, a suburban community north of the city.
Robert is responsible for overseeing the firm’s accounting, human resources, information technology, and investor reporting. He is a member of APG’s Partner’s Committee.
Prior to joining APG in 2009, he spent four years with Vornado Realty Trust. While at New York-based Vornado, Robert served as the Financial Reporting Manager for the Vornado/Charles E. Smith (Washington DC) division. His responsibilities included overseeing the financial reporting for over 80 properties in the Washington, DC area, totaling over 18 million SF of office, retail and residential properties. He also worked on setting up the accounting for all newly acquired properties within the DC portfolio.
Robert earned a B.S. in Finance from Quinnipiac University, where he graduated magna cum laude, and received his M.B.A. in Accounting from Pace University. He is a native of New Jersey and currently lives in Canton, GA with his wife, Rebecca, and their two daughters.
